Beloved longtime SGA FoG (Friend of Golfers) Ann Blanton Suehs, who passed away in 2020, attended more than 75 SGA events with her husband, SGA Hall of Fame member Bill Suehs. A fourth-generation Texan, Ann was a part of the Texas bluebonnet movement back in the 1970’s. Ann and her fellow Junior League members climbed aboard a flatbed truck and rode out of town, where they grabbed shovels, jumped down from the truck, and proceeded to help plant bluebonnet seeds, joining the campaign to establish millions of bluebonnets along Texas highways. This effort created stunning displays of wildflowers and native plants, raising awareness about the importance of preserving native habitats across all of America’s landscape. Thank you, Ann, and all who helped in this memorable and important project.
One of the very best places to experience both bluebonnets and golf is Lost Pines Resort, just a few miles from the Austin airport. Situated on over 400 acres along the Colorado River, the resort showcases the natural beauty of Texas Hill Country. Wolfdancer Golf Course was designed by Arthur Hills in 2006, and features a mixture of wooded and open holes. This very scenic course traverses three distinct terrains — high prairie, forest, and river valley. It is a fun yet challenging course and a favorite in Texas.
