The Greenbrier ~ Social Distancing in Luxury
White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia
September 28, 29, 30, October 1, 2020

As you know, SGA is taking the Covid pandemic very seriously. We have spent quite a bit of time evaluating how we can best implement social distancing and outdoor events. Happily, we think everything can be achieved at one of the most pleasant and luxurious places on earth, The Greenbrier.

The cases in West Virginia have been relatively low, and White Sulphur Springs is a somewhat remote area, quite away from any crowded vacation spots. If you have visited the beautiful Greenbrier before, you understand the spaciousness of all of the Greenbrier resort grounds. There are 11,000 acres on which to “spread out.” We will plan our SGA get-togethers on one of the many patios at the resort. There is a mask requirement inside the hotel for guests and employees, the resort staff is constantly santizing public areas, limiting the number of guests in particular areas, and golfers may have their own golf cart if they like. Cleanliness and sanitation measures are being strictly enforced at the Greenbrier, and we feel confident that they are doing everything with the utmost care.

World-class golf has been a very special tradition at The Greenbrier for more than 100 years. Old White is the originial course designed by Seth Raynor and Charles Blair McDonald. A few of the holes on Old White are styled after famous golf holes in Europe – with the stunning Allegheny mountains and forests surrounding it. It is a beautiful and memorable golf course. Reopened in 2018 as a nine hole routing, The Greenbrier Course is heavily wooded and extremely picturesque. Sam Snead once shot 59 on The Greenbrier Course in the 1959 Spring Festival. Playing this course is inspiring. Meadows was redone and reopened in 2017 and is the most friendly of the three courses at The Greenbrier. The views from Meadows are gorgeous, and it is a real treat to play. All three courses are serviced out of the same Greenbrier Clubhouse. The locker rooms and lounge area of the Clubhouse are brightly colored and beautifully decorated. Each golfer has a locker to use for the week with his or her name printed on a gold plaque, is given a forecaddie on Old White, and receives first class treatment all the way.

Guest rooms at The Greenbrier are charming, distinctive, luxurious and cozy. The bathrooms are spacious and we love the scent of the ammenities. With plush towels and robes and turndown service nightly, one feels a bit like royalty when staying at The Greenbrier. Signature Dorothy Draper decor featuring vibrant colors, floral patterns and bold contrasts unique to each and every room. For over 65 years, The Greenbrier has carefully maintained this distinctive look celebrating luxury, elegance and history in every detail.
