Mission Inn Resort & Club
El Campeon • Las Colinas • El Dorado
Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida
October 18, 19, 20, 21, 2020

Mission Inn Resort and the area surrounding it are reminiscent of “Old Florida,” with a lovely, relaxing, peaceful ambiance, natural lush green landscaping, and fresh-squeezed orange juice served at breakfast each morning. This hidden gem in the Florida countryside is located 30 minutes from Orlando, but feels as if it is worlds away. Mission Inn is a beautiful respite, perfect for the Senior Golfers of America.

Two championship golf courses will welcome SGA at Mission Inn. El Campeon is the crown jewel of Mission Inn and has been delighting golfers for over 100 years. Designed in 1917 by Chicago architect George O’Neil and enhanced in 1926 by Charles E. Clark of Troon, Scotland, El Campeon is a beautiful, challenging, and enjoyable golf course. Unusual elevation changes of more than 85 feet, blended with traditional golf design make it especially interesting and memorable. The last few holes on El Campeon are some of the finest anywhere.

Las Colinas is very different from El Campeon. Its wide-open fairways and gentle rolling hills create an inland links design. Greens are large and undulating, but the course’s classic old-style architecture demands proper shot placement. The tree-lined fairways are beautiful.  Las Colinas is a special favorite of the SGA ladies.
Mission Inn has recently added a short course within the Las Colinas Course, El Dorado. It consists of 14 par-3 holes and 4 par-4 holes. We are excited to have this course on the SGA schedule one afternoon while at Mission Inn.
SGA FoGs (Friends of Golfers) will enjoy a luncheon together at the golf club, and also a shopping excursion into the adorable town of Mount Dora. Right down the street from Mission Inn is a unique and very popular German bakery, Yahala, which both golfers and FoGs enjoy visiting. Their desserts are heavenly!  They also serve sandwiches and on weekends have live music in their outdoor area.
Recently remodeled accommodations at Mission Inn are comfortable, spacious, and attractive. Guest rooms have either one king or two double beds, marble and granite bathrooms, workspace, and our favorite feature — sceened-in balconies. A full and delicious breakfast each morning is included in all SGA plans, as well as two group receptions and two group dinners.
We are referring to this event as our “Fall Homecoming.” Mission Inn is similar in many ways to Eseeola Lodge with Linville Golf Club, a favorite with all of our members. We encourage all new members and SGA veterans to escape with us at this very relaxing and beautiful place.
