Lobster Festival
Cape Arundel Golf Club
Biddeford Saco Country Club
The Colony Hotel • Kennebunkport, Maine
July 20, 21, 22, 23, 2025
Located at the mouth of the Kennebunk River and Atlantic Ocean, the Colony Hotel is situated on 12 seaside acres. Beyond the view, the goal of this historic hotel is to offer guests a taste of classic Maine. The property provides many opportunities for relaxation, recreation, and delicious local food and drink. There is a heated saltwater pool, an onsite putting green, hotel bicycles to cruise around town on, and it’s just a short stroll down to Dock Square where we can check out the local scene.
Just a few minutes away from the Colony is the Cape Arundel Golf Course, founded in 1896 by Kennebunkport’s summer residents. Cape Arundel is perhaps most famous for being the summer home to the Bush family; George H.W. Bush served as President of the Club between 1949-1954, long before serving a slightly more important role as President. Over the years, the Bushes have hosted many famous guests, including Phil Mickelson, who set the course record with a 60 in 2006. What course architect Walter Travis created on just 88 acres is nothing short of an architectural feat. On very gentle land, he maximized the use of local waterways to create a strong variety of angles and doglegs that keep the golfer engaged throughout the round.
Biddeford-Saco Country Club is located just down Maine’s Highway One. Designed by Donald Ross in 1921, the course remains a true test of golf, with abundant water, bunkering and other obstacles to present the player with a challenge. With four sets of tees and ample, generous landing areas, the course is also fun for all levels of golfer. And best yet, a typical round takes less than four and a half hours and the course is easily walkable!
Golfers and Friends of Golfers alike will enjoy exploring the cute town of Kennebunkport. With inspirational scenery everywhere, “KBT” is home to many art galleries and museums, some dedicated to the works of local artists, while others showcase the history of the region. The community values locally sourced goods, and there are many stores that specialize in items from nearby farms, collectors, and creators. While there’s no shortage of restaurants serving the quintessential Holy Trinity of Maine—chowder, lobster roll, whoopie pie— now chefs with stacked resumes and venues with a national presence are opting to open up shop in KPT, while other legacy businesses continue to adapt and expand their menus and concepts.
SGA accommodations are in the Colony’s new Coveside Building. Unlike guest rooms in the Main Building, they feature in-room flat panel TVs, air-conditioning, refrigerator, coffeemaker, balcony or patio with riverview. If you prefer lodging in the classic Main Building, please let us know. Costs include four nights lodging in modern accommodations with one king or two queen beds and patio or balcony, occupancy tax, resort fee, three rounds of golf with cart, two group dinners with cocktails before, four breakfasts, taxes, entry fee, and prizes.
Bangor International Airport (BGR) is an hour’s drive to Bar Harbor. Portland (PWM) is 175 miles away. The smaller Bar Harbor Airport (BHB) is serviced by Cape Air and connects through Boston Logan. Rental car services are available at all.
