Enter Now: End of Summer in the Mountains

The Jefferson Landing Golf Club is located right beside Jeremy’s Lodge. The picturesque course in perfect condition. The fairways look like greens, and the greens look like terrycloth in the refreshing mountain sunshine. Each hole takes advantage of the gently rolling terrain, and of spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The course was upgraded in 2019 to include both a waterfall and a creek, as well as Scottish-style riveted sod-wall bunkers inspired by the famed 17th “Road Hole” at St. Andrews.  Play on the very interesting four-hole short course can be scheduled after the regular 18 holes.

Each evening SGA members will meet on the outdoor patio at the Golf Dining Room and have a drink before dinner. New and old friends will then be seated at outdoor tables overlooking the golf course, with a breathtaking view of sunset over the mountains.  Chef Tim prepares a gourmet meal each evening just for the SGA group, and he seems to outdo himself as the week goes on. Also, over these last few years, we have become well-acquainted with the staff members here, and they confide in us that our group is their favorite. Of course we are!

SGA accommodations will be in the low-rise Jeremy’s Lodge, right on the golf course. The Lodge was completely renovated three years ago. One of our favorite things is the beds! With crisp white sheets and duvet covers, they are very comfortable. We also love having coffee on the private porch overlooking the golf course. Each room has a high-end refrigerator and microwave, Keurig coffee maker, spacious stand-alone shower, and double sinks.

Jefferson Landing is minutes from the very small town of West Jefferson. Its Ashe County Museum features a Music & Moonshine exhibit, plus a brand new Native American presentation.  The large-scale frescoes at St. Mary’s Church were painted by a North Carolina native who studied in the Italian style and are very impressive. Explore the 150 documented Barn Quilts in the nearby area, a project by the Ashe County Arts Council to incorporate the heritage of the area with these symbols of warmth and comfort. Also, quite a few SGA memberrs spent time choosing favorite cheese varities at the Ashe County Cheese Factory Store!

In 2021 we had the fun experience of celebrating a very special occasion – the 70th birthday of our great South Dakota SGA member, Jim Harrenga.  Jim’s resourceful wife Jane snuck a lot of beads, tinted glasses and tie-dyed T-shirts into the bottom of the suitcase, and SGA attendees surprised Jim with these props plus some pretty good costumes brought from home!  This year, if you are celebrating 70 years, take $100 off your entry fee below as a birthday gift and celebrate with us.
