Indian Wells Golf Club ~ The Renaissance Esmeralda
Palm Springs • Indian Wells, California
March 2, 3, 4, 5, 2020
Relax by the pool at the Esemeralda and take in the mountain views!
The vintage Hollywood stars were onto something all those years ago. Then and now, a getaway to the desert of California is magical, and a wonderful tradition with the Senior Golfers of America each winter. The glamour and beauty of the Palm Springs/Palm Desert area never fail to dazzle. With cool nights and warm, sunny days, the weather this time of the year is lovely. The contrast of palm trees with snow-capped mountains in the distance is stunning and uplifting. We can’t wait to return to one of our favorite resorts there, the Renaissance Esmaralda and Indian Wells Golf Club. The Indian Wells Golf Club is a beautiful facility overlooking the mountains. The clubhouse was remodeled a few years ago and the result is dramatic and perfect for the desert setting.
The Players Course was designed by John Fought and opened in 2007. It features generous fairways and challenging bunker placement. A gorgeous golf course, it is enjoyable and challenging for all skill levels. Clive Clark designed the Celebrity Course. This was the site of the LG Skins Game a few years ago. Both courses offer stunning views of the San Jacinto Mountains and beautiful landscaping and water features. Desert golf does not get much better than this.
The centerpiece of this luxurious resort, adjacent to the Golf Resort at Indian Wells, is an eight-story atrium lobby. Guest rooms are bright and airy, with ample balconies overlooking the pool or mountains. There is soothing water throughout the resort: pools, ponds, lakes, fountains, and streams. The hotel atmosphere is lively and upbeat.
Our SGA F.o.G.s (Friends of Golfers), always have a great time in Palm Desert. FoGs will enjoy a luncheon overlooking the pool at the Renaissance on the first day of the event. Our annual El Paseo shopping excursion will be the second day, which we often end with lunch at the Cafe des Beaux Arts, an adorable (and delicious!) French cafe. There also are interesting tours of the desert that golfers and non-golfers alike may enjoy. Getting to Indian Wells is easy. If you are flying, the resort is approximately 25 minutes from the Palm Springs International Airport (PSP). Warm up with SGA in the California desert!
American, Delta and United Airlines fly into Palm Springs International Airport (PSP). The taxi ride to the hotel is a short twenty minutes. After arrival, you don’t need a car. Everything is within walking or hotel shuttle distance. It’s a beautiful property for strolling around!
