Great People. Great Golf. Great Memories.
Competitive & Non-Competitive Golf
Most SGA tournaments are 54-hole (three days) medal play events, weather permitting. Play will be for ladies and gentlemen who have reached their 50th birthday by tournament date. Younger spouses are invited to play but may not compete for flight prizes; however, they are very welcome participants and are eligible for miscellaneous prizes.
Low gross champions will be determined from the field at scratch (no handicap) in the men’s and ladies’ divisions. Ties for low gross will be played off by sudden death.
Super-Senior champions will be determined from the field at scratch, also. Ladies 60+ and gentlemen 65+ are eligible for this prize. Overall low gross and Super-Senior champions will receive a beautiful crystal trophy. These champions must attend the final night’s awards banquet or award will be given to runner-up players.
The field will be divided into flight of 16 players each for as many flights as number of contestants permit. If possible, you will be placed into a new foursome each day.
Flight winners will be determined at net scores with handicap deducted. Ties will be settled by deducting half handicap from last nine hole score posted. In flights of 16, five places will be awarded. Prizes will be in the form of gift certificates, redeemable almost anywhere.
All other rules of play will be USGA except for a few local adaptations. Play without delay sanctions will prevail.
A booklet with tee times, pairings, and schedule of events is mailed to all attendees approximately one week in advance of each tournament.
Scrambles and Shoot-Outs are two favorite additional activities for many of our players. Details for these and other special events at each tournament are sent to all SGA members.
